The Premodern format includes all Standard-legal Magic: The Gathering sets from Fourth Edition (1995) through Scourge (2003). Here you'll find the complete set list, format rules, and banned cards.
Legal Sets
Format Rules
Deck construction: minimum 60 cards in the main deck and up to 15 cards in the sideboard. Maximum 4 copies of any card (except basic lands).
Any printing of a legal card is allowed, as long as the card appears in at least one of the legal sets listed above. Promotional cards are not legal unless reprinted in a legal set.
Matches are played best of 3 games. Standard Magic: The Gathering tournament rules apply, including London mulligans.
Silver-bordered, acorn, and Un-set cards are not legal. Conspiracy (draft-matters) cards are also not legal.
Banned Card List
The following cards are banned in the Premodern format and cannot be included in any deck.
